Here at Larson Dental, we have added alternative treatment for TMJ disorder also known as the temporomandibular joint. Jaw pain, grinding, tension headaches and teeth clenching are some of the most common TMJ symptoms. BOTOX® and XEOMIN™ injections are placed into the masseter muscle, and depending on the severity of the case, we can inject in the temporalis muscle to help relieve these symptoms.

How does BOTOX® and XEOMIN™ treat TMJ disorders?
Our facial muscles are in constant motion. From talking, eating, swallowing and other daily activities. This continuous shifting of your jaw bone and muscles may cause this joint to become overworked and sometimes displaced. Stress from our day to day lives can worsen TMJ symptoms. Injections are a non-surgical and non-invasive treatment that help relax the muscles that support your temporomandibular joint and ease your pain.

How long does it last?
Depending on which injection is used, it can take 2-14 days to take full effect and effects can last from 3-4 months. A 2 week follow up appointment is scheduled after your first treatment to review your progress and see if any enhancements are needed. Our goal at Larson Dental is to make your experience as pain free as possible and want you to get the relief you deserve.
